The last couple of weeks have been a whole new routine since I’m now looking for a new job. I did work from home the last two years and I know it’s not for everyone. Knowing the right tips that motivate you to having a productive work environment right in the comfort of your own home, can really help.
- Pretend like you are going into an office.
Get up, get dressed and pretend like you are going into an office. They say if you look good, you feel good, you’ll do good! Do something that makes you have to leave your home, go to the gym, get coffee, drop off your kids, walk the dog or pick up the mail it helps train your body that you have to leave to get to work. I used to have a daily routine where I woke up every morning before work and drove to Dunkin Donuts to get coffee. For me, it was my form of going into the office!
- Set A Schedule, Boundaries & Take Breaks!
I personally like following a specific schedule each day, this way it makes it easier to navigate through my day. My Type A personality is all about to-do lists and I have one for different tasks. I also have a notepad on my desk so I can jot things that pop into my head or else I’d be running around doing things that came to mind and wouldn’t get anything done. It really comes down to discipline!
My most productive time of the day is morning and I like to get as much done earlier. Also make sure to take little breaks throughout the day and If you don’t have a furry companion maybe grab a coffee or make a juice, eat your lunch. Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you need to be working 100% of the time.
- Have a Chosen Work Space and Make It Motivational!
Have a chosen work space where each and every day you will go to for work. If you have another room that you use as your office or event just a space that has a desk or a chair in an area that you can call your “office space.” This are should get you into the right frame of mind. Some people even go to a local coffee shop, just depends on your work. I do recommend trying to stay out of this space while you aren’t working and when your family is home.
I love decorating and I’m actually still finishing up our apartment after almost two years of living here. I always say when you move it’s a project and enjoy it! When we first moved in we were in the midst of planning our wedding so I was super busy with that. Over the last 2 years I’ve been doing a little here and there.
For those who don’t have a cute work space I recommend little items that you can use on a daily basis to make it cute and fun to inspire you to be creative. Like this marble custom iPhone case and custom laptop skin. Both items came from CaseApp, which has the option to personalize and design your own cases and skins but also has a great selection you can just choose from.
I’m SO excited to partner with CaseApp to give all my readers a 20% off discount off your order with code ONTHEDLLIFESTYLE20.
